Lakefront Transformation – Mourea, Rotorua

This stunning lakefront extension and renovation in Mourea was all about unlocking the full potential of a classic Kiwi home — and the results speak for themselves.

Working alongside Classic Builders, we took on a full transformation of this modest brick lake house, turning it into a modern showpiece tailored for entertaining, relaxing, and making the most of its unbeatable lake views.

We added a spacious new master wing, complete with an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, providing the homeowners with a private retreat. The real standout, though, is the two-storey boat shed — a bold architectural addition connected to the main dwelling, featuring an upstairs living area with soaring raking ceilings, a second bedroom, and an ensuite. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame uninterrupted views over the lake, creating a space that feels both luxurious and laid-back.

We demolished and rebuilt the original roof structure to accommodate the two new dwellings — the master suite and the boat shed extension — which gave us the perfect opportunity to frame out for a massive bifold door. This opens the living space right up to the deck, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living and taking full advantage of the lakefront views.

Despite the usual challenges of lakeside building — weather delays and tight access — the project was delivered to the highest standard and completed before Christmas, right on schedule. The homeowners were over the moon, and rightly so.
